Kerry County commissioners plan to burn debris in sections

Kerr County commissioners met on Monday morning to discuss the next phase of emergency management efforts following the devastating Guadalupe River flood.

A burn ban continues to be in effect in Kerr County.

Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly said lifting the burn ban and debris cleanup efforts will both take time.

"It's not going to be blanket," he said. "We're not going to light the county up one day and watch everything burn down. We're going to do it in steps, in sections."

Crews are still searching large debris piles for any human remains before debris burning efforts begin.

Commissioners voted to give the burn ban authority back to the Kerr County judge. Precinct commissioners in Kerr County typically each handle burn bans for their districts.
