Sections of Guadalupe River reopened for recreational access

Kerrville officials warned the public to avoid the Guadalupe River in Kerr County.

Swimming and boating are prohibited.

They said on social media that the river is still contaminated and filled with debris, and the fast-moving currents are still dangerous.

Officials warned people to stay away from ongoing emergency operations.

However, the Guadalupe River from Canyon Dam to New Braunfels has reopened for recreational access.

Water quality testing was conducted at multiple points on Canyon Lake, with results confirming conditions are in acceptable standards.
