Health and Human Services Commission offers multiple services for flood victims

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission reported a number of flood-related services continue for Hill Country flood victims.

Those services include access to food and baby formula, mental health services and emergency grants for small town hospitals.

SNAP recipients can apply for benefits for food lost to the flood through Aug. 4 by calling 211. Hot meals can also be purchased in the impacted counties using a Lone Star card through Aug. 14.

WIC is also replacing lost food and formula benefits through July 31 at TexasWIC.org.

The state is offering free crisis counseling at 833-812-2480.

And early prescription refills are also being allowed by state health officials for flood victims on Medicaid, the Children with Special Health Care Needs Services Program, and the Kidney Health Care Program.

Flood victims in need of furniture and appliance replacement, funeral expenses, car repairs and other needs can apply at DisasterAssistance.gov. The HHSC Receiving Disaster Assistance web page should also be checked out.

The organizations working together to help the flood victims said that the best way to help is with monetary donations.
