Veteran-led nonprofit provides volunteers to flood relief efforts

A veteran-led nonprofit disaster response organization has more than 60 volunteers on the ground in Kerr and Tom Green counties.

Team Rubicon has a network of more than 200,000 volunteers nationwide, and about 65% of volunteers are either veterans or active-duty military.

The organization’s CEO, Art delaCruz, said Team Rubicon volunteers have been assisting in the Hill Country with clearing debris and mucking out flood-damaged homes to combat fast-spreading mold in extreme heat and humidity.

“Everyone that is here that I’ve run into, from law enforcement to heavy equipment operators to the nonprofits," delaCruz explained, "we're locked arm to arm with a singular commitment to help the community recover.”

DelaCruz said Team Rubicon plans to offer continued support to the community in the coming months in the form of continued cleanup efforts and help for other organizations in the rebuilding process.

Team Rubicon is accepting donations and volunteers at TeamRubiconUSA.org.

The organizations working together to help the flood victims said that 'no additional in-kind donations (clothing, food, supplies) are needed in Kerrville.' They said the best way to help is with monetary donations.
