Coronavirus Cases Continue To Surge In Texas Hospitals

Nine states are now seeing a significant rise in hospitalizations due to COVID-19, a trend epidemiologists fear will continue as states begin to relax restrictions on businesses and leisure activities.

Among those states is Texas, where coronavirus hospitalizations are up nearly 40% since Memorial Day, according to data released earlier this week by the state’s Department of Health Services. By Tuesday, the number had reached more than 2,000, the highest since the pandemic began.

One person watching the numbers closely is Dr. Marc Boom, CEO of Houston Methodist Hospital, who recently said that he’s been watching an array of numbers, “and they’re all going in the wrong direction.” He joins host Tonya Mosley from Houston.
