Experiences involving abuse and neglect undoubtedly change the course of a young person's life.

Research shows that when children witness traumatic events —  domestic violence, shootings, or even fighting — there could a physical impact on brain growth. These changes can lead to lifelong social and developmental issues.

What are the neurological effects of trauma and neglect? How can signs and patterns of stress be identified in children?

Which evidence-based treatments target trauma specifically and how can care be found in San Antonio? How can the general public be more educated about the strategies and sensitivities surrounding vulnerable children?

This episode aired on April 30, 2018. Click here for more information on the South Texas Trauma-Informed Care Conference.
