In a visit to Joint Base San Antonio Wednesday, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said his department is still waiting to meet with President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team.
"I’m committed to an orderly transition to our new commander-in-chief. We have prepared for their arrival. We will welcome them warmly. We will help them to hit the road running. They have not arrived yet in The Pentagon. They’ll do that when they’re ready, but we’re ready for them," Carter says.
Carter met with recruits at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, thanked wounded warriors at Brooke Army Medical Center and took a T-1 aircraft on a training mission from Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph.
Wednesday's visit to San Antonio could be Carter's last as Defense Secretary—as Donald Trump is currently weighing candidates to replace him.
