Opening Of TexRail Line From Fort Worth To DFW Airport Now Rescheduled
TexRail — the brand-new rail line from Fort Worth to DFW International Airport — is now scheduled to open on Thursday.
It had been scheduled to open last weekend. The hold-up, according to Fort Worth's transit agency, was the partial federal government shutdown.
The agency, , tweeted late Friday that Saturday's debut was postponed. The problem was the Federal Railroad Administration still had to issue clearances for the entire 27-mile route. And that can't be done until the shutdown ends.
But Trinity Metro issued an update Monday, saying it's received word from the FRA that the 27-mile route has been approved for passenger service.
The billion-dollar project has been under construction since late 2016. It will give people from Fort Worth and the mid-cities the same kind of access to the airport that Dallasites have had since DART was extended to DFW five years ago.
