It’s not known when or where the next festival that celebrates the life of the “Queen of Tejano Music” — Selena — will be held. Her family has not granted the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau permission to hold another one.

Bureau spokeswoman Teresa Rodriguez would not comment on the Quintanilla family’s motivation for canceling the Fiesta de la Flor.

She said the bureau was thrilled to host the festival that celebrated the life of the singer, who lived in Corpus Christi.  The last one was held in April.

“What we can say is that we are very appreciative of the Quintanilla family and the Selena Foundation for the past five years,” Rodriguez said.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Timesreports there was a falling out over a festival profit sharing plan.

When asked if San Antonio was interested in attracting the festival, a representative from Visit San Antonio said the organization has nothing to share at this time.

In 2015,TPR produced a storydetailing the disagreement over Selena’s legacy in Corpus Christi.

Selena was murdered by her former fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar, in 1995. Saldivar is serving life in prison.
