San Antonio Children's Shelter

The San Antonio Children’s Shelter is memorializing former leader Glenda Woods by renaming its campus in her honor.

At a dedication ceremony next week, the new Glenda Woods Campus for Children and Families will honor the service and leadership of the board member who molded the shelter into a multi-service facility.

The agency today operates as a shelter for abused or homeless children, and also offers education for teen fathers, prenatal care to teen mothers, and therapeutic services to abused children.

Children’s Shelter president Annette Rodriguez said Woods worked with the San Antonio Independent School District to create a partnership with Project Mothers And Schools (MAS), a Children’s Shelter program aimed at teen moms to continue their education and help them become good parents.

The family made a $1-million legacy gift to the agency after Mrs. Woods’ passing in 2010.
