New armor plated Blackhawk helicopters are heading to the Texas Mexico border. Last weekend a border patrol helicopter was force to emergency land near Laredo after being fired on from the Mexican side of the border. The arrival of the Blackhawks is the latest move to beef up the military presence on the border. But this is not a new phenomenon it’s been going on for over a century. Texas Tech University history professor Miguel Levario writes about it in his book, "Militarizing the Border – When Mexicans Became the Enemy." It’s published by Texas A&M University Press.
