The weekend is upon us, and whether it's art, nature or a neighborhood block party, we've got you covered. First off tonight head to the West Side for the party with the fun name:
"We're about to host our Summer Youth Chupachanga."
Keli Rosa Cabunoc of San Anto Cultural Arts says the kids have been creating lots of art.
"We hosted over 30 workshops on things like print-making, muralism, public art. They created portraits, they did photo-journaling, poetry, literary arts. All kinds of workshops."
And now they're going on display, their works for you to see in a block party at El Paso and Chupaderas streets. Art, music and food in an old style block party.
"From 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., it's a family-friendly event."
Also, tonight at the San Antonio Museum of Art: their newest exhibit, Highest Heaven.
"The art really melds the Old World with the new. It was art done to convert really the indigenous people of South America to Catholicism.
SAMA's Cary Marriott says there's another reason that makes tonight special.
"It's 2 for 1 admission."
Put another way, Date Night!
"We have an acoustic guitar duo that will be playing, we're showing the film Motorcycle Diaries, there's a cash bar, food truck, It's a great, different evening for a couple to go out and do something unusual."
A date night...that's a work of art! Then at 9 Saturday morning head to Government Canyon State Natural Area.
"Pretty much every plant out here has some kind of power."
Government Canyon's Resource Specialist and Interpreter Niki Lake says she's going to help interpret what those plant powers are.
"We'll look at rope that can be made out of yucca, soap can be made out of yucca, ink, that can be made out of oak galls that the Constitution was written in."
Lake says they will help you create your own field guide for powerful plants in the hour and a half walk.
