On June 8, voters will decide who will replace mayoral candidate Greg Brockhouse as their District 6 San Antonio City Council representative.
Residents of this far West Side district had four choices in the May 4 primary and narrowed the field to two – Andy Greene and Melissa Cabello Havrda – who will face off once again in the runoff election.
A candidate must receive over 50 percent of the the vote to avoid a runoff. Havrda and Greene respectively received 47 and 35 percent.
Havrda's top threeareas of focus are improving schools, improving housing choices and creating safe places. In 2017 she lost the District 6 runoff by 435 votes to Greg Brockhouse, who is currently campaigning to be San Antonio's next mayor.
As a senior advisor and staff member for former District 6 representatives Ray Lopez and Brockhouse, Greene is a familiar face around City Hall. His top priorities are street maintenance, neighborhood safety and job growth.
What are the big issues for District 6 voters? What are the candidates' qualifications and what do they hope to accomplish if elected?
