The Texas Department of State Health Services issued a warning today about a diarrhea-causing organism.

It’s called Cyclosporaand it’s a parasite that’s been rearing its ugly head in Texas.

Within the past month, 68 cases have been reported across the state.

Symptoms include diarrhea, cramps, loss of appetite and sometimes nausea and vomiting.

Past outbreaks have been linked to consumption of imported fresh produce.

The health department stresses people should thoroughly wash all fresh produce.

And cooking the food will destroy the Cyclospora.
