"Many terrible things were happening in Texas, in Florida," he said.

Domingo was referring to the catastrophic flooding brought on by Hurricane Harvey.

"And also is was the opening of the Spurs," he said about the San Antonio Spurs' regular season opener, which also happened that night.

"My very dear friend Pau Gasol playing and, obviously, the opening of the season is a great day for the fans and so on,” Domingo said. “So honestly, I believed then it was not the right time to do it."

But Domingo knew after postponing the event, he had to make good.

"Give me a day, and if I can come back, I'm doing it. And so here we are," he said.
