San Antonio's proposed budget for fiscal year 2019 shows an increased total of $2.8 billion – and it's local government's highest ask to date.
This is the city's second year implementing an "equity lens" while planning the budget, focusing resources on parts of San Antonio which demonstrate the most need, especially for infrastructure improvements.
The budget is expected to allocate funds for expanding initiativeslike the Mayor's task forceon affordable housing, raise the minimum wage to $15 for City employees, and support for the creation of a new youth community center.
A series of public input events scheduled at local parks, colleges and community hot spots like Morgan’s Wonderland will feature family-friendly activities and a chance to give input on the budget.
In what ways can more funding advance city services in San Antonio? How can the community provide feedback on the budget before it gets approved?
