Nothing beats seeing music artists in an intimate setting. TPR’s Arts and Culture Reporter Jack Morgan finds there’s an organization taking that idea to new levels.

She’s also English Professor at Schreiner University where the written, and the sung word clearly mean a lot to her.
“We’ve created this series out of our commitment to share the stories of Texas Music.”
That series is called 290 Texas, and the small concerts are all held in the Johnson City area, bisected by Highway 290.
"When we showcased Tish Hinojosa we did so in an Art Gallery in Johnson City. Most of the time we’re out at the Walnut Springs Preserve, which has a beautiful Hill Country vista, and a lovely clubhouse.”
What makes living room concerts better than other concerts?
“I watch people listen to the music in this living room setting. And then they ask the artists questions…and these are things you don’t here in a club for sure, you don’t hear at a festival. The closeness, the proximity. Watching the guitar player’s hands on the neck of the guitar…”
Their next concert?
“We are getting ready to showcase Christy Foster and Josh Grider.”
