2015 Spring Pledge Drive Makes History
Texas Public Radio listeners made history this week, raising over $595,000 by the close of day on Monday, April 13 to make the Spring 2015 Pledge Drive the shortest on-air campaign in the organization’s history.
As the pledge drive began on the morning of April 10, over half of the goal had already been raised by phone and online thanks to great response to on-air messages encouraging listeners to donate early and keep the drive as short as possible. Challenge grants from local foundations, businesses and individuals helped spur giving during the on-air portion of the drive, which we promised to end as soon as the goal was met.
Normally, TPR’s on-air campaigns last from early Friday morning until late the following Friday. This spring, the drive ended four days early.
“We’re thrilled with the response to our spring campaign!” said TPR’s President, Joyce Slocum, smiling. “I'm hopeful we can make this the model for future on-air campaigns, and keep program interruptions to a minimum in the future.”
That’s something worth celebrating!
