How Can Arts Education Impact Youth Development?

From playing instruments to painting and performing, the experience of learning while creating art can be a valuable part of a person's education. 

Neuroscience research demonstrates the impressive impact of arts instruction on students’ cognitive, social and emotional development. 

However, more schools are either cutting back or eliminating their fine arts curriculum, largely due to funding deficits. 

How are students showing their creative side and in what ways are arts programs coping? 

Why is music important for youth development? What is the state of arts education in Texas schools?
