Cellist Yo-Yo Ma will perform live from the WGBH studios.

This Sunday at 2 p.m., cellist Yo-Yo Ma will perform live on the radio, a special broadcast for Memorial Day weekend. Yo-Yo Ma proposed this special performance both in memory of those we have lost during the coronavirus pandemic, and as a tribute to those who are on the front lines.

The program will be performed live from the studios of radio station WGBH in Boston, and will be hosted by Brian McCreath of WCRB, host of that station’s program “The Bach Hour.” Yo-Yo Ma will treat audiences to the six Bach Suites for unaccompanied cello. Ma had been in the final leg of his Bach Project tour, which brought the music of Johann Sebastian Bach to San Antonio and audiences along the Texas-Mexico border last April.

You’ll be able to listen to this Sunday's broadcast of "A Musical Memorial and Tribute" live on KPAC 88.3 FM, or if near your computer, watch live in the embedded video player below beginning at 2 p.m.

Texas Public Radio’s participation in this very special, one-time only event is made possible by MACSA,Musical Arts Center of San Antonio.
