Tour The San Antonio Missions With Father David Garcia

nps.gov

UPDATE: This event has been postponed and will be rescheduled for spring, 2016.

Now that the San Antonio Missions have been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the world knows what we know—these historic spaces are a treasure. Father David Garcia, the Archdiocesan Director of the Old Spanish Missions, has been a key player in the site’s restoration, helping to raise millions of dollars for the project.

You’re invited to join TPR on an exclusive guided tour of Missions San Jose and Concepción, led by Father David, on Saturday, November 14. The tour begins at 9 a.m. at Mission San Jose, where you’ll board a motor coach that will take you to historic Mission Concepción, completed in 1731. See remnants of the frescoes that once decorated the building, tour the grounds, and learn about the rich history of the mission, from the Catholic Church’s interactions with the Hasinai tribe to the Texas Revolution and beyond.

Re-board the motor coach for a return trip to Mission San Jose. With its expansive courtyard, San Jose most closely resembles the way the missions looked and functioned hundreds of years ago; indeed, Mass is still held each week onsite. Father David will be your guide each step of the way as you explore the church and learn the story of the church’s famous “Rose Window.”

At the end of the tour, you’ll enjoy lunch from Crumpets. Weather permitting, it will be served al fresco on the grounds.

Space for this private guided tour is limited to 52 seats
