The Source: The Urban Landscape And Health

Greg Zaragoza for Texas Public Radio

The urban landscape can make you unhealthy. The lack of proper lighting, sidewalk connectivity, green space can all lead to a city that doesn't want to get outside--or has little incentive too.

The city is hosting its second "Health & Built Environment Conference" and looking at how a thoughtful design for the city can lead to better health outcomes.

Conference sessions range from complete streets and infrastructure, to how to build a healthy workforce.

The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District along with the University of Texas San Antonio collaborated to bring the conference to the community next week, May 7th at UTSA's downtown campus.

Guests:

  • Dr. Thomas Schlenker, Director of Metro Health
  • David Clear, Built Environment Coordinator for Metro Health
