The Source: Last Ditch Effort To Spare State Therapy Cuts

The Texas Tribune

A last-ditch effort is underway to prevent $350 million dollars in cuts to a state Medicaid program that provides therapy to disabled children.

Federal and state lawmakers are asking the federal government to intervene - there is even bi-partisan support for not going forward with the cuts.

The budget ax is supposed to fall on July 15 - but this battle has been going on since Sept 1 of last year.
Families impacted by the cuts have also sued the state and are asking the Texas Supreme Court to block the cuts.

But the damage could already be done as home health care providers are dropping out of the program because the reimbursement rate is too low and the state program is in disarray.
