See The Mission Winds In Studio And In Concert

May 26, 2016

“We always try to give a little bit of something for everyone,” says SrA Jennifer Daffinee, a clarinetist with the Mission Winds, one of many smaller ensembles that make up the larger U.S. Air Force Band of the West, stationed at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. “Everyone that attends our concerts can find something they can gravitate to.”

The Band of the West is performing a free Memorial Day weekend concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at the Majestic Theatre. The program is called “Freedom Isn’t Free.” As Flight Commander Christina Muncey explains, the concert honors not only the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, but also their families. “When we volunteer to serve our country,” Muncey says, “our families are drafted. It’s very challenging for them. Even though they’re not necessarily wearing the uniform, they serve their country as well.”

Tickets for the free concert are available online at this link, at the Lackland or Randolph ITT offices, as well as the Fort Sam Houston MWR office, and at the Majestic box office itself. Anyone without a ticket may enter the theater at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, May 27, if seats are available.
