As San Antonio's Airport Sets Travel Records, City Prepares Strategic Plan To Meet Demand

The San Antonio International Airport has set another record for passenger growth.

More than 933,000 passengers came through the airport's terminals in July, a 10 percent increase over the same month last year and a 9.5 percent increase for year-to-date figures.

The airport has added a number of routes and nonstop options in the last year – particularly through low-cost airlines like Frontier, Interjet and Southwest – including 11 new flight paths which took off this month.

The City says that the passenger count for 2018 is likely to exceed 10 million if this pace of growth continues, and estimates serving up to 18 million people a year within the next 20 years.

The San Antonio Airport System is currently seeking public feedback for their strategic development plan to target upcoming needs and potential growth areas forSAT.

As the nature of travel changes, what kind of infrastructure is necessary to meet future demands? What should San Antonio's airport do to prepare for the next 20 years?

The San Antonio Airport System survey is available hereuntil Friday, Sept. 7, 2018.
