San Antonio Walkability Is Not Improving – It's Getting Worse

Hot-button issues like highway congestion and improving the bus system take center stage most often in discussions about transportation in San Antonio, but there's another way people get around town: They walk.

The ability to walk safely and effectively is an important part of determining the livability of different parts of a city. Walkable neighborhoods are associated with health, economic and environmental benefits, but San Antonio's walkability is not improving. In fact, it's gotten worse.
