The San Antonio Food Bank has put out an urgent call for several hundred volunteers to help feed the hungry during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Food bank president and CEO Eric Cooper said the demand for food has doubled since the outbreak began. The group is now feeding 120,000 people a week.
"We need about four hundred volunteers and we only have about a hundred scheduled to come serve," Cooper said.
He added the organization has pop-up food giveaways planned soon and needs volunteers to help.
“For those that can serve and make a difference, if you’d please go to our website at safoodbank.org, register, pick a volunteer shift. Together we can make a difference,” he said.
Those in need can also visit safoodbank.org for more information about receiving food.
