My name is Reverend Robert Woody, the reverend at Church of Reconciliation. The holiday tradition that comes to my mind is, for a long time we have been setting aside an evening to watch the old version of A Christmas Carol with Scrooge and Tiny Tim.
And we did that with our kids when they were growing up. They now have moved on. But my wife and I still do it, and it reminds of us how it’s all about love.
My older son is now totally focused on community organizing, helping people, working particularly with youth of color. I don’t know if this was part of it, but something inspired him to be focused on trying to love his neighbor. So I’ll give A Christmas Carol a little credit for that.
