Plane Crashes Into San Antonio Neighborhood, Kills 3

Three people died when a four-seat plane crashed just northwest of the San Antonio International Airport on the evening of Dec. 1.

The group took off from Sugar Land Regional Airport near Houston at 5:16 p.m., and the crash was reported around 6:35 p.m. by the San Antonio Fire Department.

Robert Womble, 38, is believed to have been piloting the single engine Piper PA-24 Comanche on Sunday.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified a 71-year-old woman passenger as Maureen Garrow — a commercial pilot and instructor. The third victim was 22-year-old Eric Naranjo.

All three died instantly when the single engine plane nose-dived into the 600 block of West Rhapsody Drive on Sunday.

San Antonio fire officials said the plane, en route from Sugarland to Boerne, reported engine trouble before the crash.
