Listen To A Face-Melting Set From The Kevin Eubanks Quartet At Jazz, TX

Kevin Eubanks became a household name as the leader of The Tonight Show band for a decade, where he joshed with Jay Leno on-air while cranking out solid performances of pop and rock hits. Since 2005, he’s been able to follow his passion for jazz, and last month at Jazz, TX, Eubanks and his band unleashed some absolutely face-melting music.

Perched on his stool, shying away from the spotlight, Eubanks opened the set with a blistering version of his own “Jungle Blood,” then switched gears with saxophonist Bill Pierce, quieting the crowd with the beautiful “My One and Only Love.”

“Is there an organist in the house?” Eubanks called from the stage near the end of the set. Of course there was! Club owner Doc Watkins was clearly overjoyed to play with Eubanks on the house Hammond.

Hear the show in the audio player below, or listen to Texas Public Radio Saturday nights at 7:00 for “Live At Jazz, TX.”
