Lavens At The Cove, Mercado Fun, Cibolo's Moondance: Your Weekend's Here

From El Mercado to the Cove to Joe King Carrasco, the weekend is here and plenty of fun to tackle.

For 13 years, The Lavens have been a staple at The Cove, playing every Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. –unless the band is touring.

The Cove, a near West side sustainable eatery spot with an up-close-and-personal stage for those who like music with their burgers and beers.

"And even if you just want to hang in the patio and hear the band and watch your kids in the playground, it's a wonderful place to go and eat and spend your Friday afternoon or evening," Jana Laven says.

Saturday and Sunday at ElMercado, it's Primer Sabado

"Primer Sabado is an event that we have at Market Square where we have expanded food booths. Anywhere from gorditas, fajitas, mini-tacos, aquas frescas and just the normal Fiesta-type fare. And we'll have expanded artisans, working artists," Aurora Perkins says.

Market Square is the 3-block long tree-lined near West side Mexican-style market with stalls, shops and restaurants.

"There's also music that will be available on our stage.  The music and festivities officially begin and 11 through six o'clock. During that whole time food vendors will be available, and shops open at ten and close at 7 p.m." she says.

On Saturday night, head north on I-10 to Boerne's Cibolo Nature Center for the Moondance.

"Everybody just comes out, brings their chairs, their ice box. We've got a food truck," Jennifer Wyle says

Joe King Carrasco is also on the lineup and he's a force to be reckoned with.

"He calls himself the King of Tex-Mex rock-n-roll. He's just very entertaining. Great music, and just really engages the crowd. It's all good family fun," she says.
