VIA Launches Free Downtown Shuttle

If you have tickets to a show downtown and want to have a nice dinner before the curtain goes up, VIA is making it a little easier.

The city’s transit company is launching “The E” this Saturday night.  The route will run west on Commerce, north on Navarro, south on St. Mary’s, and east on Market.

“It’s essentially the convention center area up through kind of the core of downtown, to the Tobin Center vicinity and back,” said VIA President and CEO Jeffrey Arndt. “It will operate on a 10-minute frequency, so that’s a short enough time between buses that you don’t have to worry about a schedule.”

The service will run from 6 p.m. to midnight every Tuesday through Saturday.  This is a pilot project that is being funded in part by Centro San Antonio.
And it’s free to ride.
