Hispanic Chamber, Local Faith Organizations To Discuss Hate Crime Prevention

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that they are partnering with local organizations to host a luncheon called A Community Conversation: Preventing Hate Crimes on Tuesday, Sept 1, 2015 at the Pearl Stable (307 Pearl Parkway, 78215). Amidst the recent hate crimes against the Jewish Community in San Antonio, the Hispanic Chamber and local partners will convene a panel of prominent city, community and faith leaders to discuss the importance of educating citizens on this vital and timely topic.

“It is our responsibility as a community to have this discussion,” said Ramiro Cavazos, President & CEO for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  “Ensuring that we are educated on the issue is the first step to ensuring that heinous crimes, such as the ones recently committed against San Antonio’s Jewish community, never happen again.”

The Hispanic Chamber’s event partners include the Jewish Federation of San Antonio and Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio.

The panelist lineup includes:

·         Gerrald Silverman, President & CEO, Jewish Federation of North America

·         Ronit Sherwin, CEO, Jewish Federation of San Antonio

·         J. Antonio Fernandez, President & CEO, Catholic Charities of San Antonio

·         Ron Nirenberg, Councilman District 8, City of San Antonio

·         Nico LaHood, District Attorney, Bexar County

·         Rabbi Aryeh Scheinberg, Rabbi, Congregation Rodfei Sholom

·         Anthony Treviño, Interim Police Chief, City of San Antonio
