The flu shot is recommended for everyone six months of age and older.

You may have noticed a few more folks calling in sick to work this week. The flu is circulating now in San Antonio.

Each year, thousands of San Antonians get the flu and many of them suffer for days on end. That’s why the Metro Health District is urging anyone who has not been vaccinated yet to get the flu vaccine.

Health officials say there is plenty of flu vaccine to go around this year.

The latest surveillance data showed flu types A and B are both circulating in our community.

The shot is recommended for everyone over the age of six months. People over 65, pregnant women and people with chronic health problems like asthma are particularly susceptible to complications from the flu. The vaccine is very important for them according to health officials.

Unlike some other years, there’s plenty of flu vaccine to go around this year.
