U.S. Senator John Cornyn

U.S. Senator John Cornyn was unanimously re-elected to serve as the GOP Whip for the 115th Congress.

The senior senator from Texas will continue to serve as the second highest ranking Republican in the U.S. Senate. He is a member of the Senate Judiciary and the Finance committees.

“I’m grateful for the privilege to again help lead my colleagues and build on the progress we’ve been able to make over the last two years in the Majority,” Cornyn said in a press release. “The hallmark Texas principles of limited government and individual liberty will continue to guide me as we work with the new Republican Administration to chart a new direction for the country.”

The Whip’s primary responsibility is to enforce a party’s official policy and to ensure that those elected are in attendance for important votes.
