The father of several children in a high-profile child abuse case has turned himself in.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office says 36-year-old Deandre Dorch was booked late Tuesday night on charges of Injury to a Child by Omission and Injury to a Child with Seriously Bodily Injury, also by Omission.

Sheriff's Office spokesman James Keith says Dorch admits he never got medical care for the two children who were tied up in the back yard.

“Omission means somebody failed to take action. In this situation, DeandreDorch knew that these two children were being abused physically by their mother. He had witnessed on multiple occasions the children being beaten with a switch that was pulled from a tree.”

The two toddlers were found outside - one chained to the ground and the other tied to a door with a dog leash.

According to the sheriff's office, Dorch and his wife had been caring for the two toddlers since February. The children's mother, found in California, has returned to San Antonio and also is in custody. Six other children were found inside the home, and the sheriff's office says Dorch is the father of some of those children.
