Event Description

Art to Inspire Voting

Art to Inspire Voting Group exhibit with Daniel Santos Cantu and John Garland, at La Huasteca # 3 Restaurant, 3905 San Pedro, San Antonio, TX 78212. The exhibit runs through October 27, 2018. There will be an Artist's Reception on Saturday July 28, 2018 from 3:00-4:30 PM with light snacks and refreshments. You will have an opportunity to meet the artists at that time. About the Exhibition US Army and US Air Force veterans Daniel Santos Cantu and John Garland, respectively, depict the state of affairs of American values from art works created over several years. Daniel’s painting with shell casings adhered to the canvas suggests flag-like construct to refer to his military service, gun culture and the political machinations of division and discord. John’s work is more like provocative snapshots of scenes that have tugged at his heart— fear, cruelty, suspicion of manipulation, and camaraderie of everyday people. Viewed together, the works comprising “Art to Inspire Voting” makes a compelling case for all citizens to reflect on the state of American Values. The exhibition is a shout out to all Texans to suit up and show up in November and exercise their precious gift of voting. Voter Registration applications will be available at the opening reception and throughout the exhibition.
