San Antonio's Paper Tiger is one of several live entertainment venues that worked with Margin Walker Presents to book shows.

Though the COVID-19 vaccine has arrived, the financial burden of the pandemic is nowhere near its end. Several industries have been hit particularly hard, especially live entertainment. Austin-based promotion company Margin Walker Presents is the latest to close its doors.

Live entertainment came to an immediate halt in March, and for the most part, that’s continued through the country’s summer surge and its current fall surge. For Margin Walker, that meant rescheduling canceled 2020 shows and beginning to schedule shows in 2021.

“Even with strategic changes in the business, painful staff cuts, and taking loans and grants, sadly, we at Margin Walker Presents have not been immune, and it breaks our hearts to announce that this wild ride has come to an end, and we are closing the business, as of this week,” the company’s statement read.

Margin Walker promoted shows statewide, including at Paper Tiger in San Antonio. The company also booked shows in Dallas and Houston, as well as its home base in Austin.

According to their statement, Margin Walker booked and promoted over 3,500 shows statewide since 2016.

“Being both passionate about what we do and also the largest independent promotion company in Texas has made this a very tough decision, but one that, essentially, made itself,” the statement continued.

For those who purchased tickets for any 2021 shows or 2020 rebooked shows through Margin Walker, contact Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/support.
