ARI SHAPIRO, HOST:
We learn today that 23 of the 49 people killed at Pulse Nightclub Sunday were Puerto Ricans. That announcement came from the island's justice secretary who said he has been forced to reflect on, quote, "all the social problems that led to this massacre - intolerance about gender preferences, discrimination against Latin Americans in the United States and broad access to weapons."
Many of the Puerto Ricans who live here in Orlando came to escape the territory's economic crisis and find jobs. There's been a huge exodus. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
