Title: KSTX News Intern
Reports to: News Director and/or Director of News/Talk Programming
Classification: Unpaid Part-time Internship

Summary: Researches material for Texas Public Radio news department. Writes, edits and produces news content for air on Texas Public Radio or posting on TPR.ORG. Assists with the coordination and production of programs such as community forums, debates, and special focus programs.
Minimum Qualifications: Excellent writing ability; major in writing, journalism or communications
Responsibilities:
Performs research duties utilizing Internet search, newspapers, magazines, and telephone interviews to obtain data and information for use by Texas Public Radio newsroom in the production of news stories, forums, and documentaries.
Initiates and/or assists in the creation and production of programs or elements of programs for Texas Public Radio by generating ideas for content, identifying, contacting and interviewing sources for said programming, or writing and producing content for Texas Public Radio programs.

Contributes to TPR’s online content by writing, editing and producing news stories and/or interactive content for the TPR website.
Performs announcer duties by hosting on-air shifts on Texas Public Radio as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Texas Public Radio will provide a workstation at the station as needed as well as support and guidance from the News Director and/or Director of News/Talk Programming.
