San Antonio stores will be packed Friday through Sunday as back-to-school shoppers take advantage of the state’s sale tax holiday. But consumers need to be aware of a few quirks about the holiday before they start spending.

The Texas A&M Forest Service is warning residents who live in the Hill Country, north and northwest of San Antonio, to take precautions to protect their homes against wildfires as hot and dry conditions continue.

The deadly apartment fire in San Marcos has left the college town reeling as Texas State University heads into the fall semester.

It’s also left around 200 people, many of them students, without a place to stay.
