CPS Crews On East Coast Continue To Work Through New Storm

CPS crew members like Eric Fassett worked through light flurries of snow as a new storm hits the East Coast.

As Superstorm Sandy victims shiver in the face of a new snow storm moving through the area Wednesday, CPS Energy crews from San Antonio remain in New Jersey, doing what they can to help. 

A team of 51 CPS workers sent to work on downed power lines in New Jersey reached a major milestone Wednesday, restoring a complete substation.

CPS Energy Sends Crews to Help Restore Power in Virginia

Millions of people on the East Coast remain without power today as Superstorm Sandy barrels into the United States. To help restore electricity, CPS Energy is sending some of its own emergency response crews.

For the next three days, 6 of CPS Energy’s utility trucks will be traveling to help Dominion Virginia Power, who sent CPS a request for assistance on Sunday Morning.

CPS Gets Award as One of Texas' Most Prolific Recyclers

The State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) said CPS demonstrated a strong commitment to the environment by recycling 92 percent of its disposable materials in 2011. The alliance is honoring the utility with a leadership award for Outstanding Construction and Demolition Programs.

Mayor Castro Responds to CNN Story on OCI Solar Deal

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro and CPS-Energy are responding to a CNN news story about a solar energy deal that casts the political rising star in a negative light.

When Mayor Julian Castro stepped onto the stage of the Democratic National Convention he was also stepping into a more critical arena of national politics where nearly every move is scrutinized.

And on Friday, a story on the CNN program "Erin Burnett’s Out Front" covered a CPS-Energy solar energy deal that Castro was involved in that went to a South Korean company and not a company in the United States.

CPS Employees Earn $16 Million in Bonuses, Councilman Questions Timing

District 7 Councilman Cris Medina said he believes it’s bad timing to issue bonuses to City Public Service executives and staffers because of a tough economy.

“People are trying to make ends meet and CPS energy is issuing out these types of bonuses; very surprising," said Medina. "And certainly the comments I’ve gotten from my constituents are that they’re excessive.”
