Texas Public Radio’s oldest support group was organized in 1989 specifically for physicians.  Today, the membership roster includes doctors in private practice, retired, serving with the U.S. Military, employed at state agencies and on the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio faculty.  All of them share a commitment to helping keep public radio in San Antonio active and healthy.

Where Did the Name Come From?
When the 180 Group was established, KPAC, the 24-hour classical music station, was “on the dial” at 90.9 FM.  Sister station KSTX (89.1 FM) went on the air before KPAC’s power upgrade, so for a short time, the two stations operated at the 90.9 + 89.1 frequencies, respectively.  (The 180 Group name was based on the sum of the frequencies of KPAC and KSTX).  Even though KPAC moved to 88.3 when its power boost to 100,000 watts occurred and KTXI went on the air at 90.1 in the Hill Country, the name was retained.
