The Chieftains joined up with Ry Cooder to tell the story of a battalion, mainly Irish soldiers who abandoned the U.S army to join with the Mexicans in the Mexican/ U.S.American War of 1846-1848. In Mexico they are revered as heroes but in the United States, have fallen into oblivion. Their story and music is brought alive in the just released CD San Patricio.

Sa Dingding was raised as a nomad in Eastern China. Her family finally settled in Beijing in 2000, and with all eyes on China for the Olympic Games in 2008, she released her first CD with the Universal label. Her second album Harmony will be released in March.

Christopher Tin magical new CD called "Calling All Dawns A Song Cycle" has a theme of unification; we humans all share the same existence, life, death and the here after. Each track is sung in a different language, with lyrics taken from a myriad of diverse sources.
January 21, 2010 Lhasa De Sela died on New Year’s Day 2010. She was 37 years old and had breast cancer. Her entire recording output was three magnificent CDs. Her last CD sung entirely in English was released last year.

The 17 Hippies are in reality 13 but the number does fluctuate. The music is a mixture of gypsy, klezmer and pop and is performed in three languages.Kiki Sauer is the female vocalist and has a haunting voice which is eminently suited to the evocative, slower songs.

Her latest Tchamantche, is a little different from previous albums, apart from the African lute, the ngoni, all the other instruments, are western. Tchamantche in the West African language Bambana means, the point in the middle or balance.
