iExercise, one of six ongoing podcasts offered by Texas Public Radio, is aimed at both the fit and less fit, providing useful information, techniques and inspiration to get fit and stay fit.  iExercise is inclusive of running, biking and swimming, as well as aerobics.  Segments will address issues of training, motivation, diet and making the best choices of necessary equipment.  There will even be reviews of music mixes to make the ride or the run more enjoyable.

First Tri(athlon) Blog

An avid runner, iExercise's James Baker has recently become interested in triathlon, one of the fastest growing endurance sports in the country.  If you are a triathlete, are considering a first triathlon, or want to get some helpful tips on the sport's three disciplines — running, biking, and swimming — check out James' new blogsite: First Tri(athlon).  Come see what the buzz is about!

This is not a program conceived to “preach to the choir.”  The largest portion of the audience will be those who need encouragement to pursue a routine of good diet and adequate exercise.  iExercise will call the listener to action with emphasis on the benefits of a healthy regimen.

Special guests will expertly address issues of nutrition and the need for aerobic exercise.  The science will be there in layman terms along with the encouragement for the reluctant listener to “just do it.”

Program 001 – Why iExercise      Windows Media      MP3 Download
July 10, 2006 · Diane Berlanga and James Baker come at fitness in different ways.  Diane practices (and teaches) aerobics, while James is a recreational marathoner.  Here Diane takes a run with James and he tries to move his feet to one of Diane’s step routines.

James Baker:  “Like most people, I had dabbled in various fitness regimens off and on while I was young, but then became involved with getting on with my life and career.  Fitness didn’t fit in, though I certainly found time to acquire a taste for rich foods and a seriously unhealthy addiction to nicotine.  Once I gave up smoking, I knew a couple more life changes were also necessary.  Religious counting of calories is still something I don’t do very regularly, but I do run with regularity.  “A friend of mine used to ask ‘do you run to live, or do you live to run?’  I started out just wanting to get my health back, but I believe I can now be counted amongst the groundswell of those who take their exercise not as a task, but as a passion.  Is it an addiction?  Maybe so, but there are lots worse.”
