Preserving the American Dream is an online game that allows audiences to share comments, ideas, and solutions about the issue of how the traditional "American Dream" does or does not reflect the economic reality in the U.S. Economically, the U.S. is strong. Productivity is growing, and the country's GDP has been climbing at a modest but strong clip for a long time. At the same time, research shows that money is concentrating in fewer and fewer hands. Average Americans are making more money only by working more hours, running faster to keep up with the rising costs of their lives and lifestyles. When playing Preserving the American Dream game, players suggest solutions, modify the ideas offered by others, argue the pros and cons of ideas and rate the feasibility of ideas. Submissions are displayed in a variety of forms — by keyword (tag), geography, or list.
The Your Economy Idea Generator is an online activity that allows the public to share ideas and solutions regarding their personal — and the country's — economic challenges. While evidence of a national economic downturn mounts, individuals and families report that it's getting harder to make ends meet: they see that good jobs are getting tougher to find; costs of fuel and food are rising; and home values are wobbling. This Idea Generator offers a place for participants to identify issues and offer solutions for these economic concerns. People can rate and modify the ideas offered by others, too. Submissions are displayed in a variety of forms — by keyword, geography, or list — to provide a range of entry points into the topic. As the election approaches, American Public Media will review the postings on the Idea Generator and use them to point towards areas for further examination.
If you could ask Senator Hillary Clinton any question, what would it be? What would you ask Senator Craig? Obama? McCain? Speaker Pelosi? If you had a microphone and a media pass at the U.S. Capitol, what would you ask your lawmaker? Now is your chance to ask the questions that can help shape policy and help hold your elected representatives to account: Where do they stand on the important issues? What do they do all day? Capitol News Connection is connecting you to the corridors and committee rooms of Congress where decisions get made: We want to make sure you can question lawmakers on the issues that matter most to you, your family, your community.
