Your Pick: A Little Culture, Art or Theater In A Unique Place

From Art to the Asian Festival to a down deep Valentine's event, here's a snapshot of this weekend's entertainment.

Saturday morning head downtown.

"We've got Bangladeshis, we've got Pakistanis, and a variety of Chinese. We've got performers from Indonesia," says Jo Ann Andera about the Asian Festival at the Institute of Texan Cultures.

And food is a big part of it.

"Our Hawaiians are going to have Huli Huli Chicken and Kahlua Pork. The Bangladeshis are going to do Biryani and Mango Lassi. Got lots of egg rolls, lots of fried rice," she says.

There's exotic dancing, singing, music, and much more. Getting there by car though, is tough.

"The best bet is to take Park-n-Ride at Crossroads. Or Uber," Andera says.

Also on Saturday, just past Southtown is the Lone Star Arts District. And it's Second Saturday.

"Second Saturday is when the artists in the Lone Star Arts District open their studios to exhibitions," says Bill FitzGibbons of Lone Star Art Alliance.

On display are "Lionel and Cathy Sosa, both painters, will be exhibiting their work together," he says.

Also, Guadalupe Cultural Arts alum Daniela Riojas and a new artist--Jackie Ranney--will be exhibiting. Plus, there's food.

"There will be a couple of food trucks in the area, and we will be serving some adult beverages. Some of the galleries will have music and bands performing," Fitzgibbons says.

And finally, Saturday evening: Get down!

"Ha-ha...I'm gonna get down. 80 vertical feet down!"

Fredericksburg Theater Company's Kerry Goff talking about Saturday's gig at the Cave Without A Name.

"We're going to start with Rogers and Hammerstein, and we're going to end with Andrew Lloyd Webber," he says.

The 5-member group will be performing romantic music in the cave's enormous throne room.

"They've got really cool lighting that shoots up at the formations.
