Theater, Jazz And Bats Listening To Classical Music: Your Weekend's Here!

Edgy Theater, Jazz in Helotes and a Cave Concert, there are more great events ahead this weekend.

"It's an opportunity to bring some talent to San Antonio."

Attic Rep's Roberto Prestigiacamo talking about the International Fest of Theatre.

"All the performances have some kind of connection with the immigration issue. "

Tonight: Snapshots of a Fervid Sunrise, a story from India.

"Snapshots of a Fervid Sunrise is the story of two teenagers that fall in love.  And tomorrow night we will have 'On The Porch' with the Lavens. And this is a story of a family that is a very well-known band in San Antonio."

The Lavens are originally from the Netherlands, and are their own kind of immigration story. Then on Saturday it's the St. Phillips College Jazz Ensemble.

"We have five saxes, four trombones, four trumpets and a full rhythm section. We'll have keyboard, and guitar and bass."

Music Director of the Academy of Fine Arts Jazz Ensemble, Albert Aguilar says they're opening the Jazz a'Round Old Town Helotes. So what are they going to play?

"Standard big band swing music to latin, to rock to funk."

The Jazz Ensemble is opening the performance at 4PM, and they will be followed by several other jazz ensembles throughout the evening.

"We have a very diverse program and we're really excited to bring that to the Helotes Jazz a'Round Festival."

Then on Saturday night at Cave Without a Name: Neo Camerata. Mark Landson presents two cello sonatas in a fascinating setting.

"The Cave Without a Name is a transcendent experience. The sound quality is fantastic."

Landson tells the story of a visitor at his last performance there who felt a cave water droplet on her head during the performance.

"She said she was converted to classical music, listening to it there in the cave, being re-baptized by this droplet of cave water on her head."

You're not promised a transformative experience, but great music is a safe bet.
