Special Jam Session Friday Evening Before Jazz’SAlive Saturday Start

Jazz'SAlive

The biggest jazz weekend of the year gets started tonight with Jazz'SAlive After Dark at the St. Anthony. The evening will be full of surprises - no one knows who might show up for the jam session.

The 29th Annual Jazz'SAlive main event starts at noon on Saturday with Midtown Jazz Sound performing. Later in the day, Urban 15 makes an appearance, along with Bela Fleck and the Marcus Roberts Trio, featuring Jason Marsalis and Rodney Jordan.

Jazz'SAlive is the Parks Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Past board chair Vangie Flores said there’s something magical about jazz notes lingering through the trees all weekend.

“When you can listen to music and you can enjoy green spaces and be with your family or your special someone and enjoy some of the tastes of San Antonio all in one place, there’s just nothing better,” Flores said.

Admission is free at Travis Park and vendors will provide food and drink – proceeds benefit the parks of the city and Bexar.
