The Source: The Hundred-Year Marathon

The relationship between China and the U.S. has been evolving since the "opening" of the country in the 1970s, most notably marked by President Richard Nixon's trip to the country.

Professional China-observer for the CIA, Department of Defense, and other government entities, Mike Pillsbury, wants U.S. leaders to rethink our tone, strategy, and narrative when it comes to the newly mintedlargest economy in the world.

He believes it is time to stop adhering to an engagement at all costs mentality and get real about competing with China. The eastern nation's currency manipulating, its lack of democratic institutions, and its more aggressive stance in the world are all reasons for concern.

He argues their rise to the world's main stage is all part of a 100-year plan to replace the United States as the hegemonic force on the planet. It is an argument that Pillsbury has been making for years in professional circles, but now he makes it to the general public in a new book.
